Biography:

André-Aleth Masson (1919–2009) was a French ceramist, painter, and sculptor born in Saint-Malo. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes and later in Paris, specializing in ceramics after the Second World War. In 1947, he continued his training at the Fontcarrade School of Ceramics near Montpellier.

During the 1950s, he established himself as one of the creative ceramists of the post-war period in France. His work is characterized by sculptural forms, often biomorphic or geometric, in which the utilitarian object becomes a true plastic volume.

He exhibited at the Galerie M.A.I. in Paris from 1952 and participated in the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, while also developing a parallel practice as a painter and sculptor.

From the 1960s onward, his work increasingly turned toward sculpture, architectural panels, and mural art, while maintaining a constant exploration of form and color.
