Biography:

Isabelle Ferlay and Frédérique Bourguet founded the ceramic workshop Les Argonautes (ceramic workshop) in Vallauris in 1953. Their workshop became a key contributor to the post-war revival of French ceramic art.

Their work is known for sculptural decorative pieces, often inspired by mythology, fauna, and Mediterranean themes, made using colorful glazes and chamotte clay. The workshop played an important role in the artistic ceramic revival in France during the 1950s–1970s, before closing at the end of the 1990s.
