Biography:

Roger Capron (1922–2006) was a major French ceramist associated with the town of Vallauris, one of the main centers of post-war ceramic art in France. He studied at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris before settling in Vallauris in 1946, where he became part of the local artistic community that contributed to the international revival of French ceramics.

In 1948, he founded the Atelier Callis before later creating his own workshop. His work is particularly known for modernist decorative ceramics, including wall panels, tables, decorative tiles, and sculptural objects.

His work is distinguished by the use of stylized geometric and figurative motifs, often inspired by Mediterranean life, nature, and modern architecture. During the 1950s and 1960s, he gained international recognition for his creations combining design, craftsmanship, and artistic research, making him one of the major figures of 20th-century ceramic art.
