Olivier Pettit (1918-1979) was a French sculptor and ceramic artist whose work forms part of the post-war revival of French ceramics. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he developed a poetic artistic language inspired by his travels, nature, and the animal world.
During the 1950s, he spent extended periods in Vallauris, where he devoted himself to ceramics, creating pieces decorated with freely drawn animal, floral, and Mediterranean motifs. His work is distinguished by the freshness of its design, the quality of its glazes, and an artistic sensitivity inherited from his background as a sculptor.
Today, Olivier Pettit’s creations are appreciated for their charm, originality, and their place within the golden age of French ceramics during the 1950s and 1960s.
