Mado Jolain (1921-2019) was one of the most original figures in the revival of French ceramics during the 1950s.

Trained at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, she developed a distinctive style based on simplicity of form, balanced proportions, and a subtle exploration of light.

Her vases, bowls, and garden ceramics are characterized by architectural lines, bold cut-outs, and luminous glazes that give her work a timeless sense of modernity. Both rigorous and poetic, her creations hold an important place in the history of post-war French ceramics.

In 2024, the Musée La Piscine in Roubaix dedicated a major exhibition to her work, entitled “Mado Jolain, Ceramist: Home and Garden”, highlighting the growing recognition of her contribution to twentieth-century decorative arts.
