Jean Derval (1925\u20132010) was a French ceramist associated with the artistic production of Vallauris, one of the leading centers of postwar French art ceramics. Trained at the \u00c9cole des Arts Appliqu\u00e9s in Paris, he settled in Vallauris in the late 1940s and became part of the local artistic movent alongside many other ceramists of the period.<\/p>\n
His work is characterized by stylized figurative decoration, often inspired by Mediterranean, animal, and mythological thes, featuring graphic lines and richly colored glazes.<\/p>\n
