Roger Capron (1922\u20132006) was a major French ceramist associated with the town of Vallauris, one of the main centers of post-war ceramic art in France. He studied at the \u00c9cole des Arts Appliqu\u00e9s in Paris before settling in Vallauris in 1946, where he became part of the local artistic movent that contributed to the international revival of French ceramics.<\/p>\n
In 1948, he founded the Atelier Callis before later creating his own workshop. His work is particularly known for modernist decorative ceramics, including wall panels, tables, decorative tiles, and sculptural objects.<\/p>\n
His work is distinguished by the use of stylized geometric and figurative motifs, often inspired by Mediterranean life, nature, and modern architecture.
