Gustave Raynaud (1871–1957) was a French ceramicist associated with the revival of ceramic arts in southern France during the early 20th century. Based in Vallauris, one of the most important ceramic centers on the French Riviera, he contributed significantly to the region’s reputation through the production of faience and decorative ceramics distinguished by the quality of their glazes and craftsmanship.
His workshop produced both utilitarian and decorative objects, often inspired by Mediterranean nature and the decorative arts of the period. Raynaud’s creations reflect a high level of technical expertise and played an important role in establishing Vallauris as a leading center of French ceramics.
The Raynaud pottery continued its activity through subsequent generations, becoming an important part of Vallauris’ ceramic heritage throughout the 20th century. Today, Gustave Raynaud’s works are appreciated by collectors for their craftsmanship, artistic quality, and historical significance within the tradition of French decorative arts.
