Costanza (1926–2023) was a French jewellery designer regarded as one of the leading figures in the renewal of contemporary jewellery in France. Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, she developed a highly personal body of work from the early 1960s onward, creating unique pieces in which jewellery was conceived as wearable sculpture.
Working primarily in gold, but also in silver, gemstones, resin, and Altuglas, Costanza drew inspiration from ancient civilizations, archaeology, and organic forms. Her creations are distinguished by their rich textures, subtle volumes, and a constant search for balance between tradition and modernity. Several of her works are now held in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the French National Contemporary Art Collection.
Through her sculptural approach to jewellery and her commitment to unique pieces, Costanza established herself as one of the most distinctive personalities in French jewellery of the second half of the twentieth century.
